Son Of A Tutu
‘Son Of A Tutu’ (He/She/They) is an award winning actor (Iris Prize 2023), award-winning drag artist, activist, and speaker. The 2011 winner of ‘Drag Idol UK’ since which they have performed/spoken across the UK and Europe in various cabaret venues and settings, films, pantos, at festivals (Pride and others) and, for small, medium, and multinational corporations. They have also appeared at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and hosted online events for Amnesty International, ParaPride as well as hosting Bingo on Victoria Beckham’s Instagram account.
As featured on ‘BBC stories’ Tutu was the face of Primark’s national Pride campaign (2019). They also conceived and directed the #YouCanDoBetter (microaggressions) viral video in the wake of the Black Lives Matter uprisings of 2020 and were featured as one of the subjects in Dan Jones’s book ‘50 Drag Queens Who Changed the World’. They also can be seen in the “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” movie, “Lemon” a short film currently streaming on All4 also, played “Mother Nature” in Acid’s Reign” at the 2023 Vaults Festival. They were also one of the featured beauties in the “Permissible Beauties” installation at Hampton Court Palace film the film element of which is currently showing at film festivals around the world as well as part of the ‘cult of Beauty’ exhibition currently on at the “Wellcome Collection” in London.
