Book Reading & Q&A with Jon Grinrod
We are excited to invite local businesses, charities, and community organisations to be part of the Croydon Pride 2026 experience. This year, our vibrant Community Hub will be hosted at the beautiful Braithwaite Halls, serving as a key destination for attendees to discover local talent and support.
Ever wondered what was really happening behind the twitching net curtains of suburban Croydon?
For Pride Month 2026, join us for an exclusive evening with acclaimed social historian John Grindrod at the historic Braithwaite Halls.
We’re diving into his latest work, Tales of the Suburbs, to uncover the vibrant, messy, and extraordinary history of queer life right here in South London. From the secret 1970s Croydon Area Gay Society archives to stories of heroic hairdressers and suburban punks, this is a celebration of the “chosen families” that bloomed against the odds.
