Croydon PrideFest returns bigger and better for a third year running

Event

On Saturday 14th July, Croydon will celebrate its third year of Croydon PrideFest, a fun and inclusive celebration of the borough’s diverse LGBTQ+ community.

Following on from successful Croydon Pride events over the last two years, with crowds growing from 3,000 in 2016 to 7,000 last year, this year’s completely free-of-charge event aims to bring in thousands again this year.

Starting with a parade from North End (outside the entrance of Marks & Spencer) at 11.30am walking to the main event site in Wandle Park, the day will include a wide range of live music and acts, accompanied by food and drinks stalls in the Park. Attendees who want to show their dance moves can access the event’s dedicated dance tent in the Park until festivities wrap up at 10pm.

Confirmed acts include Asifa Lahore, star of Channel 4’s ‘Muslim Drag Queens’, and singer songwriter Christopher Haul. Asifa will host the event in the afternoon and Christopher in the evening. Other acts will be available on the Croydon Pride website in the coming weeks. To make Croydon PrideFest 2018 an even greater success, the organisers are reaching out to local companies, community groups and organisations to become ‘Community Supporters’ and Sponsors.

Paula Goodwin, Chair of Croydon Pride, commented: “I’m so excited for Croydon PrideFest to be back for its third year. It has been a real success for the last two years and that has been largely due to our sponsors. The event would not be the same without community support, so if your company would like to be involved in any way, big or small, please do get in touch, and let’s work together to make PrideFest 2018 the biggest yet.”

Mark Watson, Trustee, added: “This is a great event bringing together all parts of the community to celebrate LGBTQ+ people in Croydon in an atmosphere of fun, inclusion and entertainment. Wandle Park is set to be a great venue and we’re confident that this year’s event will build on the successes of previous ones. If you would like more information on how to attend the event or get involved, please get in touch via our website. As ever with a great party in Croydon, the more the merrier!”
