Help Shape the Future of Croydon Pride: We’re Hiring a Trustee (Events & Programming)
Are you passionate about creating spaces where the LGBTQIA+ community in Croydon can truly thrive?
Croydon Pride is more than just a parade and a large annual event. We are a year-round presence dedicated to visibility, advocacy, and celebration. We are looking for a dedicated and creative Trustee to join our Board, with a specific focus on overseeing our event strategy.
This isn’t just about the “big day.” As our Events Trustee, you will ensure we provide a consistent, inclusive, and varied calendar of events, from quiet social meetups and workshops to high-energy performances that reflect the beautiful diversity of our local community.
The Role
- Strategic Oversight: Work with the Board to set the annual events calendar.
- Inclusivity Advocacy: Ensure events are accessible and welcoming to all intersections of the community (including QTIPOC, trans/non-binary folks, and people with disabilities).
- Quality Control: Provide guidance on event planning, safety, and community impact.
- Governance: Act as a legal guardian of the charity, ensuring we remain sustainable and compliant.
Key Skills (or a Willingness to Learn)
We value lived experience and passion as much as professional background. We are looking for:
- Project Management: The ability to keep multiple plates spinning without losing sight of the details.
- Community Engagement: A deep understanding of the diverse needs within the LGBTQIA+ community and how to cater to them.
- Strategic Thinking: Looking beyond “what we did last year” to innovate and grow.
- Collaboration: Working effectively with volunteers, local venues, and the council.
- Inclusivity Mindset: A proactive commitment to making every event accessible and representative.
- Governance Literacy: An interest in learning the legal and ethical responsibilities of being a Charity Trustee.
Why Join Us?
This is a volunteer position, but the “payback” is immense. You will have a direct hand in building a safer, more connected, and more joyful Croydon for everyone.
Ready to step up?
Closing Date: 10th April
Croydon Pride is committed to diversity and welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, genders, and sexualities.
